A Christmas concert with big band sounds. 19 musicians will perform unique and thoughtfully crafted compositions and arrangements. Martin Behnke, founder and composer, grew up in Yreka. His father, Pop Behnke, taught music at Yreka High School and had a local band.

This concert is usually at Christmas, but Red Scarf has moved it to September. This is a classical concert that will feature Mozart to Bernstein’s West Side Story. Red Scarf is so lucky to have these young accomplished musicians performing in Yreka.
Kinga, an award winning Polish-born and New York City based concert violinist, has concertized in Yreka several times. She maintains a busy concert schedule gaining worldwide recognition through her performances as a concert soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Martin graduated in orchestral conduction and piano performance in Slovakia. He is Music Director of the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra and the Queens Symphony Orchestra. Besides conducting, Martin is often noted playing piano as a soloist and with groups in the Rogue Valley. www.martinmajkut.com
